Kayfun 3.1 Clone By Yeahsmo Review

A few weeks ago we ordered some devices from VapeKing. The final device to be reviewed is the Kayfun 3.1 clone by Yeahsmo which retails for R350.00. The Kayfun 3.1 is a RBA/RTA device which stands for Rebuildable Tank Atomiser. This means that the device has a base upon which you build your own coils and has a juice tank which supplies juice to your wicks. These require less re-filling than Dripping devices and are seen as more practical for people who prefer to not have to fiddle as much with their devices when using them.

The device was fairly well priced and came with all the necessary pieces including a drip tip, Spare coils, a phillips screw driver for the posts as well as some spare o-rings. It also has a converter allowing you to use your own drip tips if the standard one isn’t really your thing which is great as well as the option of either a clear plastic window or a fully steel device.

The device build quality was alright with the O-ring between the chimney and the top being slightly misplaced and warped which I had to reposition to correct. The threads are solid and smooth on the metal and the device locks in place well. It has a brushed steel finish and other than the finish looks almost identical to the original.

Building coils on the device was really easy and wicking was hassle free, you just have to ensure you keep the juice channels clear. To refill the device you have the option to refill through a refill hole located at the bottom or from the top with a bit of a complicated method as the device uses a pressure system to feed the juice and prevent leaks. One issue I had was that my device did not have a proper ball in the refill hole which caused leaking when refilling and resulted in me plugging this hole to review the device further.

The vapour quality on the device is great with thick white clouds and the taste quality on the Kayfun is unmatched to us so far. It is able to bring out the flavours in a wonderful way. The device is not recommended for sub-ohming and I tested it between 1.6ohm and 1.1ohm. I found that it worked best and brought out the best flavours at around 1.3ohm and still managed to produce a very nice cloud.

The device is fairly big and heavy especially on an 18650 MOD but if you are looking for a device that holds a lot of juice, this is a great option. I found I only needed to refill it once a day at most vaping pretty much all day.

The device has a few cool features such as a flood well, which catches any juice that may flood and stores it under the base to prevent it leaking out onto your MOD. It also has multiple rings and the option to purchase different kits for frosting the pyrex or shortening the device for a more compact Atomiser. It also has an adjustable airflow system allowing you to control how airy your Vape is.

The base has a great chimney system which isolates the coil from the juice chamber and only allows in the juice brought in to the wicks via the juice channels. This prevents gurgling and flooding as well as ensures the wicks are kept saturated right up until the tank is empty without much effort. The plastic window allows you to monitor your juice levels but i found that the plastic was not the strongest and began cracking and leaking slightly so stuck to the steel throughout.

Overall the clone is a good starting device if you are looking at a cheap device to play around on but would under perform for most advanced vapers. I was a bit disappointed in the leaking refill hole from the missing ball but am unsure if this was just a fault on this device. The plastic window could have been more solid but it does have the steel one. Vapour production was good and the flavour quality is great. I would give the Kayfun 3.1 Clone by Yeahsmo a 3 out of 5 as it produces good vapour and is easy to learn to build but the device quality was a bit disappointing with the leaking refill hole and the plastic window cracking slightly.
